An ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) is a free, persistent identifier that distinguishes you from every other researcher. It is essential for ensuring your work is correctly attributed to you across different systems. All UT researchers are strongly advised to register and use an ORCID!

Add Your ORCID ID:

• In Pure, from your personal overview page, click Edit profile.
• In the Metadata tab, scroll down to the Personal Identification section.
• Click Add existing ORCID ID.
• Enter your 16-digit ORCID and click Check.

Authenticate Your ORCID (Required):

• After adding your ID, your Pure profile will display a link: Authenticate your ORCID ID. Click this link.

• A confirmation screen will appear. Check the box to grant Pure permission to read your ORCID record and click Proceed.

• You will be redirected to the ORCID website. You may need to accept cookie settings. Sign in to your ORCID account.
• You will be asked to authorize the University of Twente to access your profile. Click Authorize access.
• You will be redirected back to Pure. Your ORCID should now show a green, authenticated icon. If not, try again, or contact support.

Once your ORCID is authenticated, the library staff will be able to more easily find works authored by you to add to Pure. Existing works in Pure with ORCID information pointing to you will also be updated. Besides that, authenticating your ORCID lets you enable two useful features:

• Export content to ORCID: In your profile editor, click the button to Authorise export of content to ORCID. This allows Pure to push your publications to your ORCID profile, helping to keep it up-to-date.
• Automated Search with ORCID: In the Automated search section of your profile editor, you can now enable the ORCID source to automatically find and import publications listed on your ORCID profile. See Auto-import Publications for more details.
